teaser_ce_schapiro_godfather_top_1207311126_id_593584“A picture paints a thousand words” – well, if it’s got something to do with one of the most remarkable films of all time with characters, who at times can seem very much like real individuals rather than fictional characters, you’re in for more than just a visual treat.
page_ce_schapiro_godfather_02_0910191637_id_138231The Godfather Family Album isn’t just filled with photographs alone; it features essays and interviews with people involved with the production of the film and its sequels. As a special photographer on the sets and locations of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather trilogy, Steve Schapiro, a distinguished journalistic photographer (whose pictures have graced the covers of Vanity Fair, Time, Life, and People, and are found in many museum collections) had the remarkable experience of photographing behind-the-scene shots of some legendary actors giving some of their most memorable performances.
From Marlon Brando to Al Pacino, Robert De Niro to James Caan, Robert Duvall to Diane Keaton, Schapiro immortalized them in photos that have garnered a cult status. Who could ever forget the image of Brando with a cat and the whisper in his ear; they’re iconic, they’re timeless.

A limited edition of 1,000 copies, The Godfather Family Album contains over 400 colour and black and white images from all three Godfather films, all reproduced from Schapiro’s original negatives –some of which have never been published before.
