NO MORE NASTY CIGGY ODOUR

120206_smoking_car_cigarette_2

To take a puff in the car, or to wait till you arrive at your destination? A lot of you smokers would choose the former option. You’re addicts, we get it. But when the smell of stale, smoked-up tobacco starts seeping into the seats and infusing with every element of your car interior, then you have a problem. Especially when your friends start making up bizarre excuses for not hitching with you (“it’s okay I’ve always wanted to sleepover in the office anyway!”) or when the lady starts breathing down your neck with very lawyer-like cross examination skills about the origin of this peculiar smell.
Well, it’s your lucky day. Here we list some effective ways of getting all that scummy smell out of your car, and make it smell like how a car should smell like. Some of these take a while to complete, so make sure you have a plan put into action to get whoever it is you’re deceiving out of the way for a day.

Distilled Vinegar
Get a couple of plastic bowls, place a small towel in each, and top it up with distilled vinegar. Put these bowls in the car for a few hours (or overnight depending on the smell scale) to absorb the odours in the car. The bigger your car, the more bowls of vinegar you’ll need.
Alternatively, mix quarter cup of vinegar with two cups of water, pour it into a spray bottle and mist your car interior with this. Don’t worry about the smell of the vinegar as it wears off pretty quickly.

Baking Soda
Sprinkle baking soda on the upholstery, carpets, and other applicable materials, work it in for a bit, and leave it to absorb for a couple of hours before vacuuming up all the traces. Be sure not to leave any trace of baking soda behind as evidence!

Coffee Beans
Place some roasted ground up coffee beans in a few paper cups and place them inside several spots on your car to soak up all that yummy stink.

Kitty Litter
pile-of-cat-litter
Kitty litter is meant to absorb unwanted odours of cat secretion, so you can imagine how it could work for your car too. Place a bowl of kitty litter in your car, for a couple of days even, if you like, and let it work its magic.

Carpet Deodorizer

You could use a carpet deodorizer to compliment the other cleaning methods listed above, to spring clean your carpets and give your car a fresh aroma.

Newspaper is an absorbent, and can be also used to soak up unwanted odours. Crumple some and stuff them in several spots in your car as a complimentary effort to one of the above smell-sucking methods.

BE SAFE WITH THESE APPS

Stalking

Sometimes, creepy men follow you. It happens. When you’re walking in the dark to your car parked a mile away, even an innocent sparrow can seem like a mass-murdering crow. Well, we hardly blame you – taking a look at the drastically rising crime rate as of late, everything can be, and should be suspicious. So if you’re one who takes too many walks alone, or are generally worried about your safety now and then, keep calm and use these apps.

bSafe BeSafe
Program your friends and family in this app, and should you get into trouble, a tap on the emergency button will contact them and let them know your GPS location. You can also use bSafe to trigger a fake call on your mobile, in case you need to get out of sticky spots, or set the app to give live feeds of your location to your friends and family, during your lonely walk through that shady neighbourhood.

iWatch-01
This app works as a crime deterrent as well as a safety app. When you feel like you’re in a dangerous situation, arm your iWitness, and it will start emitting a blinking light from your phone, indicating to any potential perpetrator that your phone is armed. If any incident takes place, just tap the screen of your phone. iWitness will then start an audio and visual recording of the incident, your phone will emit a loud alarm, the authorities will be called, and a text message will be sent to 6 chosen contacts of yours alerting them of the incident.

Guardian
With the cliché symbol of a guardian angel as its app icon, this app creates a community of, well, guardians, among your own trusted contacts. Once you and your contacts sign up for Guardian, just a tap on your screen will alert your trusted contacts around you, sending them your location so that they can come to your aid. Whether you’re in trouble, or are feeling suddenly faint and unwell, this app is useful, practical, and best of all, free.

Watch Over Me
Developed by a victim of a near-kidnap herself, this app is designed for your loved ones to watch over you while you’re doing any activity, whether it be going for a job, taking a cab, or walking to the train station. Just let Watch Over Me know what you’re up to, and if you fail to check in after your activity, the app will send an alert via SMS, email, or Facebook, provide your emergency contacts with your current GPS location, and start video and audio recording so that your loved ones know what’s going on.

I can’t tell you how excited I am that Malaysia has produced such elite talent and now they get to showcase their skills on the world stage on 15 November .”

Melvin Yeoh is a pioneer in mixed martial arts in Malaysia, having started mixed martial arts more than seven years ago. He possesses deadly kicks from his Muay Thai background and has a very underrated submission game. Yeoh has toiled hard to grow the sport and hopes to be rewarded on 15 November by being recognized as the best Featherweight in Malaysia.

Yeoh was originally slated to face Jian Kai Chee in the final of the tournament, but Jian was forced to pull out after suffering an injury. AJ “Pyro” Lias Mansor steps in to take his place in the final. A national Silat champion and a powerful grappler, Lias Mansor will be looking to represent his home state of Kota Kinabalu and defeat Melvin Yeoh.

Gianni Subba is considered an emerging prospect in the Flyweight division and one of the best prospects in the whole of Malaysia. His first MMA bout ended when he pulled off one of the most impressive debut performances in ONE FC history as he knocked Singaporean Bruce Loh out with a perfectly timed left hook in the opening seconds of the fight. Subba went on to defeat Saiful Merican at ONE FC: RETURN OF WARRIORS via submission at 4:08 of round two. At the age of 21, he has showcased immediate potential and has already established himself as the most dangerous Flyweight in Malaysia. Subba now faces a heavy handed brawler in Chen Yun Ting.

Chen is coming off an impressive win over Singaporean Ronald Loh at ONE FC: KINGS & CHAMPIONS, finishing the fight in the first round with a well timed hook. As one of the most highly touted prospects coming out of Malaysia, he is looking to extend his winning streak by emerging victorious in this bout that will determine who the top Flyweight in Malaysia really is.

Exciting Malaysian Welterweight Nik Harris will also make his much-anticipated ONE FC debut on 15 November when he battles Indonesian veteran Zuli Silawanto. The young Malaysian is relentless in going for the finish, having never gone to a decision in all his victories. Training out of one of the best gyms in Malaysia, Muayfit, he will look to fly the Malaysia flag high by emerging victorious in this battle.

Zuli Silawanto is an Indonesian MMA veteran who has more than 10 years of professional mixed martial arts experience. He will be looking to bounce back after falling short against Adam Kayoom in his last ONE FC bout. He has a diverse martial arts arsenal that includes kickboxing, Pencak Silat and submission wrestling. He will be looking to silence the home crowd when he takes on Harris.

Samir Mrabet is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt originally from Brussels, Belgium, who trained in three continents before deciding to reside in Malaysia. His gym, Monarchy MMA, is one of the fastest rising gyms in Asia. The former runway model is set to put his undefeated record on the line when he meets Steven Durr.

Originally from Tennessee in the United States, Steven Durr relocated to Malaysia to pursue a mixed martial arts career in Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization, ONE FC. He fights out of T-REX gym in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. A self professed trouble maker while growing up, mixed martial arts helped him to find an avenue to express himself. He has an impressive amateur record, winning 22 bouts with only four losses. Durr also has professional Muay Thai experience and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He will be looking to springboard his career in Asia with a victory over Mrabet.

The main event of the evening will crown the inaugural ONE FC Welterweight World Champion. The bout features a battle between the top mixed martial artist to ever come out of Malaysia, Adam “Shogun” Shahir Kayoom, against Japanese slugger Nobutatsu Suzuki.

THE BLACK BOOK OF CARDS

BlackBookCustomDisplayFaceCardsFramed

The concept of The Black Book of Cards Playing Card Deck is based on a typographic deck of playing cards using different personality words based on the notion that we all hold a card within the deck based on the day we were born. Similar to our Zodiac sign, this deck of cards consist of 52 cards (including jokers) and is inclusive of a “book” holster and a chart card that allows you to find the card in the deck that corresponds with your birthday. It’s indeed a very intriguing and engaging concept were most of us would love to find out what our card is and what it says about us.
