LA MONÉGASQUE MEETS MONACO: AN ICONIC ROGER DUBUIS CREATION SERVES A NOBLE CAUSE

La Monégasque Flying Tourbillon with micro-rotor in pink gold

Roger Dubuis symbolically dedicates a unique piece from its La Monégasque collection to Only Watch 2013, the prestigious two-yearly charity auction benefiting research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, of which the latest edition will be held on September 28th at the Monaco Yacht Show.

A natural choice
Recognised as the world’s first charity watch auction and held every two years, Only Watch is now into its fifth edition under the auspices of the Monegasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy together with Antiquorum Auctioneers. In tribute to the promoters of this noble cause as well as to the location of the auction, Roger Dubuis naturally turned to its La Monégasque collection in creating this year’s piece. The world of the Player embodied in this collection is indeed inspired by the principality’s legendary elegance and refinement, combined with an unmistakable hint of boldness. Its distinctive silhouette accentuated by refined and elegant lines evokes the world of the stylish risk-taking Player. As a contemporary interpretation of watchmaking codes rooted in tradition that is all about style rather than fashion, the La Monégasque collection places its bets firmly on audacity and excellence. Designed for people seeking to express their individuality and uniqueness, it highlights Roger Dubuis’ watchmaking expertise through traditional complications.

La Monégasque Flying Tourbillon with micro-rotor in pink gold
 A one-of-a-kind combination
This unique model created exclusively for this event features a 44 mm pink gold case housing the RD520 selfwinding mechanical movement with a ‘flying’ tourbillon carriage at half-past 7 shaped like a Celtic Cross, along with the distinctive Roger Dubuis micro-rotor at half past 10. This is indeed the first time that this movement with its 60-hour power reserve is housed within a case from La Monégasque collection, and the dial has been specifically designed and developed in accordance with the collection’s distinctive design codes. The stunning result – with its charcoal-grey sunburst and circular-satin-brushed finishes, along with pink gold applied Arabic numerals – vividly illustrates the expertise cultivated within the Manufacture Roger Dubuis as well as its technical and aesthetic signatures. Like all timepieces produced by Roger Dubuis, it bears the highest guarantee of watchmaking excellence in the shape of the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark.

 An ongoing commitment
Roger Dubuis is strongly convinced that its corporate responsibility definitely includes showing concrete support for charitable causes – and particularly one like Only Watch that contributes to funding medical research and seeking to improve the living conditions of vulnerable victims of such debilitating diseases as muscular dystrophy. It is thus proud to be playing its own part within the proactive endeavours of the Monégasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy – and especially to be able to do so with a unique La Monégasque model that so perfectly expresses the values of the Manufacture as well as those of the collection and the unique place that inspired it.
