IMADNESS – WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT THE ‘NEW’ IPHONE 5S?

Apple-iPhone5S-vs-iPhone-5

Ok so here’s the story so far – there’s a ‘new’ phone by Apple that’s out in the market right now, the iPhone 5S. What’s so ‘new’ about it that’s driving Apple fanatics crazy? Let’s find out shall we?
First of all, the design is practically the SAME. The Wiseguy suspects that somewhere along the line, Apple fired a whole bunch of design people and that’s why we’re stuck with supposedly ‘new’ phones that are exact same shape and size as the one before. Admittedly, while the screen is slightly bigger at 4.2” and the screen resolution better at 1704 x 960 pixels versus the 1136 x 640 pixels of the old iPhone 5, these can be considered minor improvements and really nothing to get excited about.
It seems that people are more inclined to believe just about anything when a dude with a crisp British accent gushes about how desirable it is to get your hands on this new phone. Money and time that could have been used to create innovative new phone features are being invested into mass marketing and product brainwashing for some confounded reason.
Someone should point out to them that Refinement is not the same as being Creative. Maybe some of that cash could go to buying a dictionary? Just a thought…
The 5S does have a hardware upgrade with Apple’s new A7 dual core 64bit chip – which really is the first to be used on a smartphone – making it twice as fast as the previous iPhone 5, but is it really worth it? Considering that the iPhone 5 is already very, very fast, what’s the point?
In fact, it seems that the only real difference – other than the processing speed upgrade – is the biometric fingerprint reader which the good people at Apple ‘promise’ won’t share your bio data with shadowy government agencies. I’m sure we heard that before.
The same Apple Map is still on the phone and this wonderful not-so-new app is still sending people on unintended road trips and great new adventures, so why change things? People just love adventures!
While the Wiseguy is an iPhone 4 user who also uses an iPad Mini and is typing out this article on his beloved Macbook Pro, the Wiseguy will advise holding on to your hard-earned cash this time while waiting for something really innovative from Apple.
