While “a house of cards” would imply something unstable to most of us, architect Shigeru Ban laughs in the face of the phrase. World renowned for erecting temporary structures which have served homes, and much needed shelter for disaster victims, down to venues for massive events, he does his job with an undeniable touch of class – with his choice material of recycled materials (particularly cardboard and paper). And, while most of us would imagine such structures to go down with a huge downpour or gust of wind, many of his marvellous creations still stand till this day, with many communities choosing to keep them for their aesthetic value.
