INCHING CLOSER TO THE FLYING CAR

SS-TransitionUnfoldPlanesLWM

It almost feels as if inventors are holding back, and denying us the innovation which is the flying car – what with all the groundbreaking tech that has come to surround us over the past 50 years. The good news is, you could own a flying car within the next couple of years. However, to be politically correct, what has recently been announced as the world’s first commercial ‘flying car’ is in fact a multi-purpose vehicle, with very prominent aircraft features even in ‘car mode’. Definitely not a ‘robot in disguise’.
Perhaps some of you would have heard of the Terrafugia Transition, which until recently was only depicted in artists impressions. Now made a reality, this vehicle will be priced around US$279,000 and will begin production in 2015, and, the company producing them has taken about 100 deposits of US$10,000. Specs wise, the vehicle has a top speed of 65mph on the road, and flight speed of 100mph – with a range of 410 miles. It runs on standard unleaded petrol, and should fit in a standard one-car garage.
