I thought I was dreaming or it was one of those scams when my friend discreetly passed me the link to the Humble Origin Bundle website, as the deal seemed too damn good to be true. Seriously? Below US$5 for TENawesome games, that’s bloody unprecedented.
Total nerd-hype aside, it’s a ‘pay what you want’ deal, for six games with a minimum of US$1, while surpassing US$4.91 gets you an additional four games. Man, you don’t even get that at the annual Steam Sales. In case you were wondering, the games on offer are not ‘rejects’ or B-graders, in fact, they include immensely popular titles such as Dead Space and Dead Space 3; Crysis 2 Maximum Edition; Medal of Honor; Mirrors Edge; The Sims 3; Battlefield 3; Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3; Uprising; and the classic Populous. No joke, no adware, no virus, this is 100% legit, and my Origin client is already working overtime to download the whole shebang over the next two days.
There are currently just over 48 hours to go for this insane deal, so if you’re dying to scratch that gaming itch, do it. Do it now.
So what gives you ask? Well, the deal is for charity, with Origin and Electronic Arts (EA) donating the proceeds to six charities: The Human Rights Campaign, Watsi, the San Francisco Aids Foundation, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society; and GamesAid. And, to date, the campaign has raised well over a whopping US$9 million.
That said, you can tell your girlfriend or boyfriend that you’re going recluse for at least two weeks for a good cause.
Enjoy.
